The Ministry of Sex We make love for so many reasons. To enjoy another and ourself. To relax. To play. To share a deeper intimacy. To celebrate a new job! To conceive our children. To comfort each other in sadness or loss. To minister to each other's needs. Our sexuality is a gift that lets us share in the Creator's joy, pleasure, and strength. It plays a tremendous role in our daily life and spiritual growth. We relate to life and to each other through our bodies, our genders, our physical selves. Like marriage, parenthood, and career, sexuality is a path, a journey of growth. We tend not to think of it that way, especially in a culture that seeks to promote unending youth and encourages lack of physical change regardless of our life experience. But we certainly do change! --physically, spiritually, and emotionally. Nurture your sexuality. Reflect on it, its role and meaning, over the course of your lifetime. Encourage this fantastic part of yourself to evolve as the other aspects of your life do. Let the Incarnation (God made flesh) remind you of God’s love for humanity -- and the body that comes with it. Your body is a wondrous thing -- strong, flexible, resilient beyond understanding. Expressive, beautiful, giving, taking, it is the very stuff of life. Honor your body, and that of others. Respect your vulnerability as well as your strength. Exult in movement -- it is pure joy. Experiment -- but be gentle with yourself. Delight in your senses -- but know who you are: You are a trusted guardian of the power of creation.
